Summer Settles Into Philadelphia

Hell's under water,
a warm wet blanket, woven
from July's first breath.

Embers flare; fluid
movements of heat and color
reflect still faces.

Some thoughts, like breezes
over a fading campfire,
flicker randomly.

Wool blankets of smoke
obscure smoldering embers
of recall unchecked.
