Activist Judge Installed by Bush-Cheney Junta Attempts to Engage in Prior Restraint of the Press to Protect Money Launderers in the Caymen Islands

The popular web site Wikileaks has been permanently ordered off the internet by an apparently insane and corrupt judge in California. The sole effect of the judge's order can be seen here. Fortunately, the internet itself as well as the Wikileaks site were designed specifically to thwart attempts at censorship, and the insane judge was only able to shut off one specific URL for what will most certainly end up being a very temporary amount of time. Without defense attorneys for Wikileaks present and and apparently satisfied that twenty-four hours' notice via email was sufficient, the judge, who was installed by the Bush-Cheney junta [go figure], signed the unconstitutional injunction that had been written by plaintiff's attorneys from a "bank" with branches only in Switzerland and the Caymen Islands. According to the Inky, a commonwealth appeals court has upheld Philadelphia's new campaign finance limits, which are much more stringent than in the rest of the commonwealth and were passed by city council and a lame duck mayor in response to the pay-to-play scandals. If Tom Knox weren't currently trying to buy the mayoral election with his own money, this would be a very positive development.

US Attorney General Attempts to Politicize Dept of Justice

Alberto Gonzales is the worst Attorney General the United States has ever had. Of course he should resign. Now, will someone with a spine please ask Bush to resign? Or, at least begin impeachment proceedings?

You might remember from an earlier post on this blog that KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, was recently implicated in the inhumane treatment of wounded US combat veterans at Walter Reed Medical Center. Today the Army’s Surgeon General who was responsible for administration of the center from 2002 to 2004 resigned. In a move that may or may not be related, Halliburton announced plans to move its world headquarters from the US to the UAE. I can’t help but wonder if this is some kind of preemtive maneuver to avoid impending legal accountability for crimes likely committed during the period of absent congressional oversight of the war in Iraq from the 2003 invasion until shortly after the 2006 elections.

The Bush administration’s uniquely corrupt brand of crony capitalism ultimately leads to the mistreatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed Medical Center. Campaign contributors line their pockets by denying decent medical care to thousands of veterans.
